David Art Center brings international Master Watercolor Artist Alvaro Castagnet (A.W.S.) to Louisiana for 3 intense days of inspiration, hard work and productive creativity. Through many demonstrations, dialogues and humor, Alvaro will express his own philosophy about painting. You will learn to achieve successful results, make quick decisions, and simplify for the most impact!
Alvaro Castagnet is an inspirational and expressive watercolor painter who has won many prestigious international awards and has been featured in Watercolor Artist Magazine. Alvaro travels around the world, exhibiting, judging and teaching the arts of watercolor. He is a member of many art societies, including AWS (American Watercolor Society) and AWI (Australian Watercolor Institute). He is a successful author, who holds highly popular workshops and his works are collected worldwide.
He currently lives in Uruguay.

Enrollment is limited and will be accepted on a first-come basis. A deposit of $100 is required at time of registration in order to reserve your place in class (limited to 20 students). The balance should be paid in full 4 weeks before the workshop starts. Registration 30 days or less prior to workshop starting date must pay in full.

Please bring the best you can afford.
Preferablly round big, Mop shape and pointed brushes sable or squirrel. (not synthetic!)
Alvaro's brand are Premier Squirrel hair brushes, soft and very absorbent, with long handles to achieve more freedom and spontaneity. #10, 6, 4, 2, 0 and 00.
1 Rigger or needle point for fine details and lines (like Alvaro's #8)
Also, small synthetic brushes sized #4, 5, 6 (for finer detail work) or #8, 10, 12 (Escoda Set).
Alvaro will bring some to the workshop.
Saunders Waterford 300grams rough texture (Arches or Fabriano). 300 grams = 140Lbs
Some smooth paper for charcoal sketches.
Paper sizes I use: 1/2 imperial = 56x38cms. 1/4 imperial = 38x28cms. Panoramic = 56x19cms.
For workshops, it is best to use 1/2 size sheet, but of course, you can paint in any size you feel comfortable.
Alvaro will demonstrate in 1/2 size sheets.
Sponges, towel, tissues, water container, masking tape, 2b - 6b pencil, charcoal sticks, water spray bottle, painting boards
And lots of good sense of humor!
